Turquoise waterfall in the Costa Rican jungle

Costa Rica · November 1–9, 2027

Nine days in Costa Rica to return to yourself.

A jungle villa in Jaco, hot springs + volcanos in La Fortuna, and a small group of people who came for the same reason — to rest properly, adventure a little, and have real conversation again. Time away from the phone. And for leaders, creators, or anyone in a new chapter: optional filmed storytelling from the stage and connections that turn into lifelong collaborators.

9 DaysCosta RicaSmall GroupAll-Inclusive Villa

Most trips give you photos. This one gives you your nervous system back. Nine days of jungle air, ocean, waterfalls and unhurried mornings — with deliberate phone-free windows, evening circles that go somewhere real, and enough adventure to remind you what alive feels like. You come home rested, clearer, and with people you'll still be talking to next year. And if there's something you've been meaning to figure out — a business, a book, a next chapter — nine days of space tends to do that too.

Who It's For

If you've been running on empty, this experience is for you.

Founders & Entrepreneurs

You've been running at full speed for years. This is the experience you step out of the noise, get perspective, dream bigger — and meet the founders, coaches, and consultants who could become your next joint venture partners.

Leaders, Authors, Speakers, Coaches & Healers

You hold space for everyone else. Here someone holds it for you — with people who understand the work you do.

You've Been Carrying Everyone Else

Parents, caregivers, the one who quietly holds a family or a team together. Nine days where nobody needs a thing from you — the pool, the sauna and the jungle do the work.

Between Chapters

A career change, an empty nest, a loss, a move, or a quiet "is this it?" Sometimes the clearest way to work out what's next is to change your scenery for nine days.

Coming Alone — or With One Person

Most guests arrive solo and leave with a group. Bring a friend, a partner, a sibling: the experience holds either way.

Anyone Who Needs a Reset

No credentials required. If you're tired in a way sleep doesn't fix, Costa Rica is a very good answer.

What you leave with

  • A genuinely rested nervous system — not just a tan
  • Clarity on what's next, written down and workable
  • A handful of friendships that outlast the flight home
  • Practices and rhythms that travel back into ordinary life
  • A marketing content library — professional photos and video from your filmed talk and the trip sizzle reel (for leaders)
  • A speaking slot you can leverage (optional) — a recorded talk to share, repurpose, and use as proof of authority
  • A room full of people worth knowing — every walk of life, and the kind of strangers who become friends, collaborators, and sometimes future partners
  • Permission to dream bigger — space to think about your business and your life at a scale you don't normally give yourself

Day 1November 1◦ San José → Jaco

Arrival & Connection

We gather mid-morning in San Jose and head toward Jaco, check into the villa, and settle into the rhythm of Costa Rica. The evening is for connection, relaxation and a welcome feast at the villa — prepared by a private chef.

Highlights

  • Arrive in San José
  • Transfer to Jaco and check in
  • Relax, meet the group and settle in
  • Welcome feast at the villa (private chef)

Arrival window is October 31st – November 1st.

To make your arrival at Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO) completely seamless, please review the following flight timing guidelines:

November 1st Arrival (Standard Group Pickup): Complimentary private group shuttles will run from SJO airport to our luxury coastal villa in Jacó at scheduled intervals throughout the day on November 1st.

October 31st Landing (Optional Early Buffer Night): If you prefer to fly in a day early to catch a better flight rate or give yourself a travel buffer, please note that early hotel lodging is individually booked and covered by participants.

Late-Night Exceptions Covered by Us: If your flight itinerary requires a late-night arrival, we will cover your airport hotel room for the transitional night of October 31st strictly for flights with a scheduled landing time after 5:00 PM. This ensures you avoid navigating mountain transit corridors in the dark.

Important: Please submit your finalized flight itinerary to our team as soon as it is booked so we can verify your arrival time and assign you to your specific airport shuttle batch.

Return: The official retreat runs through November 9 — we travel back to San José together that day, with your San José hotel on the 9th included. Departures are on November 10.

Your Host

Meet Travis Richardson

Retreat host · International keynote speaker · Founder, Be Well Asheville

I've spent the last decade chasing one question: what actually makes people come alive — and how do you build a life around it? The answer, for me, turned out to be rooms full of people far from home. Costa Rica three times. Alaska. Ecuador. Liberia. Serbia. Japan, Korea, Thailand.

What I've watched happen on those trips is hard to explain until you've been on one. People arrive exhausted and armored. Somewhere around day three the shoulders drop. By day nine they're making decisions they'd been circling for years — not because anyone pushed, but because there was finally room.

I keep the group small on purpose. Small enough that I know your name, what you came for, and the kind of life you want to create.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Who is this retreat for?+

Anyone who's been running on empty and wants nine days that actually reset the dial. Most guests are entrepreneurs, business owners, authors, speakers and leaders who want to align their work with their life — but you don't need a title, a company, or a platform to belong here. Caregivers, people between chapters, and anyone tired in a way sleep doesn't fix have been some of our best-fit guests. Whether you're at a crossroads, scaling, or simply seeking a reset, this experience is for you.

How fit do I need to be?+

Adventure days stretch comfort zones, but slower alternatives are always available and nothing is mandatory. If you can walk a few miles comfortably, you're fine.

What are the rooms like?+

Villa accommodations on a double-occupancy basis. We match roommates thoughtfully, and some private-room upgrades may be available on request. Please check with Travis to confirm.

Can I come alone?+

Most people do. By the second evening it never feels that way.

Which airport do I fly into?+

San José (SJO). The arrival window is October 31 – November 1, and flying in on October 31 is ideal — the group heads to the villa in Jacó together on November 1, with complimentary shuttles from the airport that day. We travel back to San José together on November 9 (your hotel that night is included), and departures are on November 10.

What should I pack?+

Light layers, swimwear, walking shoes, insect repellent and one thing you'd wear to a nice dinner. A full packing list goes out after you reserve.

What's the deposit and cancellation policy?+

A $1500 deposit holds your spot and the balance is due before the trip. Full terms are shared when Travis follows up on your request.

What is included in the trip cost?+

Your investment covers accommodations (shared occupancy), most meals including private chef dinners, all in-country transportation, planned activities (adventure, teamwork, contribution, rejuvenation), Workshops, your filmed talk (optional, for leaders), and basic photo/video coverage. Flights, personal purchases, and optional spa treatments are not included.

How do I reserve?+

Fill in the form below. Travis reads every one personally and will follow up with details and next steps. You can also email him directly at travis@bewellasheville.com.

What is Be Well Asheville, and how does this connect?+

Be Well Asheville is Travis's retreat company and the host brand for this trip. The Retreat Leaders Network is a separate community of retreat leaders this experience feeds into — you'll find a link to it at the bottom of the page.

This seems like a new model for retreats, is it?+

It is. A small, curated group; your talks filmed and shared; exposure through the Retreat Leaders Network; and a blend of adventure, contribution, and rejuvenation built in. It's neither a typical tourist retreat nor a typical conference.

Do I need prior retreat experience?+

No. Most guests are first-timers. The group stays small on purpose so Travis can personalize the experience to where you are.

Are payment plans available?+

Yes. After your $1,500 deposit, a payment plan is available for the balance. Travis shares the details when he follows up on your request.

Reserve

Reserve your spot in Costa Rica.

Spots are limited and the group stays small. Share a little about yourself and Travis will be in touch with pricing, dates and next steps.
